we're moving!

change is good....is that what they say?
well i think this is a good change....
tho a little scary....
my little sanctuary in new london
is moving to niantic, ct
and i'm nestling in
with an old friend
who has a center called
a beautiful place of light energy
and a great source of spirit in full force....
do come visit after the first of the year....
at 321 main street....downtown niantic
right across from the water
and close to unique and interesting
shops and events that go on all year round
Alan Cohen says, "It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power."
so i'm going with it....
a new adventure and new movement in life!
and on we go......
soldier's heart - special workshop!
posted 12/01
"War may sometimes be a necessary evil. But no matter how necessary, it is always an evil, never a good. We will not learn how to live together in peace by killing each other's children." ~ Jimmy Carter
Soldier’s Heart, a term coined at the time of the Civil War to describe Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PSTD), is a grass-roots healing project for at-risk veterans based on Ed Tick’s book, War and the Soul: Healing Our Nation's Veterans From Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (Quest Books, 2005).
The key to healing, says Ed Tick, is in how we understand PTSD. He redefines PTSD as an identity disorder with radical implications for therapy and presents ways to nurture a positive, passive warrior identity based in compassion and forgiveness.
The Source of Light and I are planning a special workshop in March in Holyoke, MA. It is intended to educate communities in how to offer support services for veterans and families in their own hometowns. It is open to active duty, veterans and their families, counselors, therapists, healers, and members of the clergy and other pastoral care professionals. Soldier’s Heart also sponsors a mentor program for seasoned veterans to mentor new returnees.
This workshop prepares communities to support troops returning from war and all other veterans with an emphasis on tradition, psychology, and spirituality for their homecoming and healing. It offers a series of experiential veterans’ return retreats to address the unique needs of veterans and at the same time train professionals and clergy to help returnees. Areas to be addressed are identity issues, homecoming and integration back into society. Retreats are open to all veterans and their support networks.
Through this project, a fundraising is also underway to sponsor 20 veterans free-of-charge! Could there be a better way to give the gift of healing this holiday season than to sponsor a Veteran's healing? Our goal is $16,200 which will send 20 Vets - all expenses paid! Every penny donated will go towards sponsoring a veteran and is tax deductible.

Surround Someone With Wings
"Occasionally in life there are those moments of
unutterable fulfillment which cannot be completely
explained by those symbols called words. Their
meanings can only be articulated by the inaudible
language of the heart." ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
It might be awkward to hug a stranger. Still, any
form of gentle touch, especially hugs, has the
potential to promote a calmer, less anxious society.
Of course, you wouldn't bear-hug the person next to
you in a movie theater, but you could try giving him
or her a "mental" hug by radiating positive energy in
that direction.
Doreen Singer writes: When I'm in a restaurant, I like to pick someone out. Then, I imagine myself unfolding wings from my back and wrapping them around the person to give them a hug. It is always heartwarming to see the person turn around, looking for someone.
i love this idea and have used it many times....
sending reiki with it even better....if you can....
who's your next love recipient?
hugs and peace to all

happy chanukah
posted 12/4
chanukah began at sundown tonight...
the Festival of Lights, is a celebration of the victory of the Maccabees
and the rededication of the Jerusalem Temple...
it also commemorates the miracle of the oil that burned for 8 days....
the menorah
one candle is added to the menorah each night
the first night, the shammus (the one at a different height) is lit and by that candle, one Chanukkah candle is lit each night......
by the eighth night, all of the candles have been lit
using the original shammus each each night....
candles should be added to the menorah from right to left (like Hebrew writing).....
the following blessings are recited (usually sung)
blessing over candles
Barukh atah Adonai, Eloheinu, melekh ha'olam
(Blessed are you, Lord, our God, sovereign of the universe)
asher kidishanu b'mitz'votav v'tzivanu
(Who has sanctified us with His commandments and commanded us)
l'had'lik neir shel Chanukah. (Amein)
(to light the lights of Chanukkah) (Amen)
Blessing for Chanukkah
Ba-ruch ata, A-do-nai E-lo-hei-nu, me-lech ha-o-lam, (Blessed are you, Lord, our God, sovereign of the
universe)
she'asah nisim la'avoteinu bayamim haheim baziman hazeh. (Amein)
(Who performed miracles for our ancestors in those days at this time)
Shehecheyanu (first night only)
Barukh atah Adonai, Eloheinu, melekh ha'olam
(Blessed are you, Lord, our God, sovereign of the universe)
shehecheyanu v'kiyimanu v'higi'anu laz'man hazeh. (Amein)
(who has kept us alive, sustained us, and enabled us to reach this season) (Amen)

check out the candidates
posted 12/6
i don't know about you, but each time a new election year comes around, i am eternally confused about which candidates i resonate with....
what are their REAL plans...
who do they support REALLY...
what can they do to turn the country around....
what's their stand on the war.....
etc., ad infinitum......
but most importantly...
are they telling the TRUTH!
well ONE.org is helping me with some of the questions we face today and how our candidates are responding to them....
i found this quite helpful....
watch the videos.....
listen to their voices....
feel their words......
use your own intuition.....
compare them side by side......

thank you mr. worcester

for those of you who had the chance to watch our christmas video (above)
you will have seen this picture of
arlington cemetery....
what i didn't know is that the wreaths laid so
carefully and lovingly there
were donated by one single man who owns
the worcester wreath company.....
MR. MERRILL WORCESTER
these wreaths -- some 5,000 -- are donated by his company in harrington, maine....
he not only provides the wreaths, but covers the trucking expense as well....
and has done this since 1992. A wonderful guy....
groups of maine school kids combine an
educational trip to DC with this event to help out....
making this even more remarkable is the fact that harrington is in one of the poorest parts of the state.
and thanks to my sis for bringing it to my attention....

revival of the spirit
posted 12/8
i admit to feeling a little depressed today...
yet why
when all around me
i see the beauty of this wonderful season?
bright and colorful lights
even a little snow last night
pretty red bows on everything
inspirational music
everywhere I go
and joy fills the air...
joy for the birth of a savior
to save us
from ourselves.
i am acutely aware
that I join many others
in this feeling of sadness...
sadness for loss
sadness of separation
of loved ones who have left us
of loved ones who live far away
of loved ones who have passed away.
so what is there to do
to bring ourselves out
of ourselves
to join the human race again
and smile with wonder
along with others
at the beauty that
surrounds us?
we remember to
give thanks
for all that we have
no matter how small
and we remember that
there are others
who need our smiles
and our love
and our spirit.....
so we lovingly
try to let go
of all those
who have left us
and look toward
those who
are here
in the present
and
loving us
in return.
and we pray....
pray for ourselves
and for others....
we pray to the heavens
to hear our pleas
for peace in the world....
and then we rest
knowing that
no matter what
our prayers are
always heard
