never underestimate the twists and turns
that life has in store for us all...
soon after arriving in the US
i met a very handsome officer of
the portuguese navy...
we fell in love instantly...
long story short
he eventually proposed...
but here's the rub...
in the meantime,
while he was back in portugal
i asked one of my school
chums to help me learn
spanish (as close to portuguese
as i could get)...
and during the course of
my "lessons"
fell in love with my tutor
to my mother's relief...
we married when i was 19
and he just 21...
two children later
and four grandchildren
i have never looked back...
although i have now been
married 25 years to my
second husband...
those days were magical
and a path that i was meant
to take - always...
listen to your heart people
it guides and it shows the
way for love and is the messenger
of your soul...
have a safe and happy
July 4th everyone
and remember your roots
mine are firmly rooted here
now
but i treasure my beginnings
and would never have had
it any other way...
God Bless

arriving in america
posted 7/1
in 1963 our dad was transferred
from the british admiralty
in bath, england
to groton, ct
to set up the
brand new office at
general dynamics/
electric boat division
and to act as one of
the uk consultants to the us
when they built the first
polaris submarine...
in true movie fashion
we arrived
expecting
gold paved streets
and men
with texan hats
smoking old stogies...
instead
we found
a new england
full of history
albeit younger...
no gold streets
and regular people
who rarely
smoked cigars!
so naive
and so
innundated
with myths
from westerns
like the lone ranger
and epic mgm
musicals...
i would have felt really stupid
except that when i
enrolled in school
at almost 16
one of my classmates
asked if we had birds
in england....
tit for tat
our minds are
shaped by what
we imagine
and through
the fantasy
of what we see
fed to us
by the media...
mostly...
it is incumbent
upon us all
to do the
research
to question
what we believe
to be true...
it is only
then
that
we
can
truly
become
an intelligent
human being...
happy july one and all!
summer is here...
yaaaay!

my research
posted 7/5
as a naturalized citizen
of the united states
who loves this country
and has enjoyed
the benefits of all
that it has provided
for my family
and me for over 40 years...
i now feel a responsibility
to speak up to maintain
my freedom of speech
and my rights as
a very proud
american citizen
when i think
there is something
that needs to
be fixed...
and, right now
i am beginning
to believe through
hard evidence
that what i said below
is becoming more
and more the truth...
and it hurts me...
it very much pains me
to know that
my rights to free
speech could
just be taken
away by the
sweep of a pen...
so i have been
doing the research...
first of all to make sure
my doubts were unfounded...
but what i found out
was so disturbing
that i can't let it go
without reporting
what i now feel
is the truth...
here is what i said
and below that,
is one of the many
reports that i found...
i offer you the most
intelligent and well
put together piece
of reporting that i found....
please
you make up your
own minds
and then be sure
to speak your truth:
"our minds are
shaped by what
we imagine
and through
the fantasy
of what we see
fed to us
by the media...
mostly...
it is incumbent
upon us all
to do the
research
to question
what we believe
to be true...
it is only
then
that
we
can
truly
become
an intelligent
human being..."
if you disagree with my findings
please do the research
and prove me wrong...
i would really like to
be wrong and will
most certainly
stand down if
proven so...

embracing the wild

this video touched my heart
a lion brought up by two
loving men
released to the wild
and a sweet reunion
years later.....
to all of you who drive a car
check your tires
and take a few minutes to watch
this life saving video....
there is a code on the inside
of a tire that tells you
when the tire was made....
look for the
last group of numbers...
for example.....
3402 means that it was made
in the 34th week of 2002...
this means that your tire
would be 6 years old
even if
your car is brand new
and some are even older...
they sit on shelves
and slowly disintegrate...
blow outs are inevitable
at this age...
Please watch this!
thanks Marcia for these good tips!

i usually post one interesting
piece of information a day...
but i've come across a few
lately
that i really
want to share
with you all...
the first is a video
about the healing abilities
of sound...
it shows a little of the
sound session
that A.D. Ryan developed...
it is presented
clearly and simply
without all kinds of difficult terms....
I watched it
and enjoyed it
so much...
so easy to follow
and very helpful
i hope you watch...
listen carefully
try to be relaxed...

communication
posted 7/23
we all know how important
effective communication is
essential to getting along
with others...
the problem is that we all
have our own communication styles...
here's a great example
presented in a really
humorous way...
i loved it :-)

randy pausch

i posted this video of randy pausch
a few months ago entitled "the last lecture"...
he knew it might be just that...
and yesterday...
sadly it did become his last...
Below Professor Randy Pausch, a Carnegie Mellon University computer scientist delivers this lecture in September 2007. Facing terminal cancer at the time, he showed what an extraordinary human being he was. He died yesterday at the age of 47, leaving behind his wife and three children....
may he fly with the angels and arrive safely home...
